My journey in landscaping started as an apprentice with a commercial landscaping team in Melbourne, where I gained experience working on large-scale projects and learnt the importance of preparation, teamwork and quality workmanship.
After moving back to regional Victoria, I continued developing my skills as part of a maintenance crew, gaining a deeper understanding of plants, gardens and the ongoing care required to keep outdoor spaces thriving.
My next chapter took me to Perth, where I worked across both the commercial and residential sectors. Working with a large commercial team gave me valuable experience in structured project delivery and larger construction works, while my time with a small family-owned residential business showed me the importance of personal service, attention to detail and building strong relationships with clients.
When I returned to Bendigo to be closer to family, I joined another small residential landscaping business. It was here that I met Jake, and what started as a friendship grew into a shared passion for creating quality outdoor spaces — eventually becoming the foundation of Viking Landscapes.
Outside of landscaping, I’ve always had a strong connection with the outdoors. Camping, fishing and exploring the bush are some of my favourite ways to spend my time, and that connection with nature heavily influences the way I approach landscape design.
I love working with my hands and watching a project transform from an idea into something real. There is a huge amount of satisfaction in seeing a finished landscape and knowing the hard work, planning and craftsmanship that went into creating it.
I’m especially drawn to natural landscapes — bringing elements of the outdoors into gardens through features like streams, ponds, natural stone and organic designs. I also enjoy creating custom, one-of-a-kind pieces that make each landscape unique and give clients something truly original.
For me, landscaping is more than just building gardens — it’s about creating spaces where people can relax, connect and enjoy the outdoors for years to come.
